Marketing Coordinator
Position Description
General Description:
The Marketing Coordinator manages and implements the integrated communications plan that supports the mission of the Division of Student Affairs. The Coordinator ensures that budgets and timelines are met and quality materials are produced. The Coordinator strives to build mutually beneficial relationships and supports diversity within the Division of Student Affairs. This is a 12-month, Administrative Professional position that reports to the Director of Marketing, Lory Student Center.
The Division of Student Affairs at Colorado State University encompasses a wide array of departmental services and programs addressing the needs of approximately 25,000 students at Colorado’s land grant university. Colorado State University is in Fort Collins, a city of 125,000 residents which offers a unique blend of metropolitan advantages and small town friendliness. Located 65 miles north of Denver at the western edge of the Great Plains and at the eastern base of the Rocky Mountain foothills, Fort Collins, with its ideal climate provides easy access to numerous outdoor activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain scheduled deadlines and budgets of projects as assigned by the Division including graphic design, event coordination, and research projects, as needed. Help develop tools and recommendations to improve the current processes;
- Maintain project records and update project status reports weekly;
- Contribute to solidifying and expanding communications and relationships within the Division and across campus. Make recommendations for expanding the scope of the relationships, based on opportunities observed;
- Work with the Marketing Director, VP Council and the Division Image Committee in developing relevant projects and strategies. These strategies become the basis for the creative assignments;
- Review and provide input regarding all copy, layouts, and proofs prior to presentation;
- Perform special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in communications, advertising, marketing or related field;
- Experience: Two (2) years full-time (or equivalent part-time) work experience in advertising, marketing and/or project management with a minimum of one (1) year experience writing marketing materials;
- Skills: Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork with diverse populations. Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience organizing and managing multiple tasks with changing deadlines and priorities;
- Ability to communicate verbally, in writing, listening and presenting, as demonstrated by formal training, experience and application materials;
- Demonstrated experience managing and tracking projects independently;
- Work experience indicating attention to detail and follow through;
- Understands concepts of multiculturalism and diversity and how they impact marketing and communications;
- Demonstrated personal qualities: sound decision making, creativity, organization, time management, diplomacy and integrity;
- Evidence of drive and initiative as demonstrated by personal experiences and previous employment (must be a self-starter);
- Experience in higher education preferred.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The anticipated starting date of March 2008 is preferred.
